Flash Pros and Cons with Emile Nottle of Zoop Design

This show was recorded live on December 1, 2008 and can be heard archived at:
http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/tscmd/tc/30986 or on Techno Granny Show personal channel at:
www.positivelypittsburghlivemagazine.com
This is an article from Emile's E-Zine, info for additional articles below.

FEATURE ARTICLE] FLASH: PROS AND CONS

While Flash websites can be pretty slick, with animations, slide shows, fancy menus and moving text, there are a some serious problems with Flash based sites. Here's what I explain to clients when they tell me they want a Flash website:
First, the search engines cannot read the text in a Flash site. If you have an online business, whether you're selling goods, services, or digital downloads, you probably want all the traffic you can get. When web users type in search terms for things they are looking for, you want your website to come up in the search engine. A Flash site will not come up in the search.

Another problem with Flash sites is that people with outdated browsers, and/or who don't have the current version of the Flash player, won't be able to see the site, again eliminating a large chunk of your target market. Also, some people disable Flash to avoid those annoying, flashy ads. This further narrows your audience.

Also, some people simply don't have the patience to wait for Flash sites to load. I've seen Flash sites take up to 3 minutes to load, which seems excessive to me, considering that most websites load instantly if you have a fast connection. An ultra cool site won't help you if people don't stick around and wait for it to load.
Finally, most effective websites are constantly updated with fresh content to entice users to keep coming back. However, if you have a Flash based site, you will need a developer with Flash skills, and the updates will cost you much more than updates to a standard HTML/CSS based website.

Ok, you must be thinking... with so many Flash sites out there on the internet, there must also be some pros?
There's a way to get around most of the problems described above. Your web designer can embed Flash elements into your HTML website - like a fancy menu, a small window with a slide show or moving text, etc. If this is done properly, you can have a slick website without excluding much of your target market.

1We, 1 World Experience and 1We,Chain

This show aired on Techno Granny Show at 7 AMEST, Monday November 24, 2008
You can hear archived version at: http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/tscmd/tc/30986
or at: www.positivelypittsburghlivemagazine.com

Profile
Fazila started her media career at The International Advertising Film Festival, Cannes. She now holds the position of President for The Netherlands and Malta for the European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry (EEIG). 1We - One World Experience has been a dream for her since her childhood and feels like a lifetime commitment.
By parentage and birth she is from Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan). At the age of 10 months in 1964 her family migrated to England as the economy and political situation was very bleak with the possible outbreak of war which inevitably happened separating East and West Pakistan creating Bangladesh in 1971. She was raised in England and in 2004 moved to Malta where she lived for 4 years. She now lives in Holland where she operates internationally.
Her only visits to Bangladesh were at the age of seven and twelve years old. She felt she could never return to her home country due to the anguish it would cause her after she had left yet for once she felt she could do this with 1We – One World Experience and this time, make a difference.

In Bangladesh:
I am walking to a boat in the harbour of Old Dhaka to take us to a village. Time has stood still in my mind and the tormenting memories from my visits as a child have returned. I am in my own country. Nothing has changed. Everywhere I look the harsh reality of how people still have to live and what they endure to get through every single day is more apparent. I close my eyes but cannot shut out the misery around me. I am now in the village and it is still so remote to living in the western world. It is beyond belief.
A few days later I am visiting Dhaka Medical College Hospital. My roots started here. It is where my parents met, where my life started, where I was born and where I lived when I was a baby. I am confronted with horrifying realities and life threatening situations which could affect me and my family. I am on the outside looking in. It feels so real and everything is happening to me.
I am losing count of the sea of desperate faces. Of people so weak with hunger, pain, sickness, disease, with no strength and losing hope. I realize my family was so fortunate to leave so many years ago. I feel sickened and terrified with the realization: THIS COULD BE ME.
So many questions are flying through my mind. What can I do to alleviate or put a stop to these desperate situations? What can I do to make a difference to the lives of these people? How many more are in these situations? Is there a future for anyone? I am more determined that we are all in a position to help with no excuses. It is not too late and a mission cannot be accomplished alone. For the sake of humanity we must integrate, take the bull by its horns and make a positive and sustainable change.

About 1We – One World Experience
1We - One World Experience is an international groundbreaking TV broadcasting and development organization backed by the corporate sector. With innovative development projects and positive TV programs we cut through all traditional practices.
What I am seeking:
I have met many people from all over the world who want to make a difference towards a better world. I would like to meet so many more who share this vision and are willing to help make this happen.
By joining forces this is possible as a mission cannot be accomplished alone.
At this moment in time we are currently broadcasting on national television in The Netherlands and United Kingdom and in other countries internationally.
Furthermore we have created several new development projects. For example we have secured a future for over 60 rickshaw drivers and also slum shops creating a future for several in Bangladesh.
For expanding the organization worldwide I am seeking interested people and corporations, funding towards media exposure, sponsorships, donations towards current and new development projects, alliances, further increased international exposure and awareness.
Most of all, through fundamental and human rights I would like to give a golden future to so many across the globe which will last throughout several generations to come with sustainable benefits.
The concept of 1We came into action in January 2005 resulting in the company launch in January 2006. Due to consistent negative media portrayals the organization took a decision be the new party to change this through positive media resulting in world development.

World Development
The main issues wherever we are in the world and result in six main factors which have to be addressed from the very core in order to sustain projects and build economies.
They are:
Healthcare
Education
Sanitation
Ecology
Environment
Funding
This can be approached successfully by raising awareness via all forms of cross media.
Successful economy building can be reached by identifying skilled entrepreneurs both in the region in allegiance with professionals internationally who have a solid understanding of all full aspects relating to the country in question with several factors taken into consideration.
The main ones are the addressing of social and cultural issues along with current attitudes and mentality. Governance and politics for every country need to be looked into in full detail. In addition to this the identification of successful international case studies in different continents which can be applied anywhere in the world with certain exceptions which may apply such as geographical location, environmental differences and the availability of resources available.

So as you can see, it's not only online TV, but video in general is becoming even easier than good old text. The only problem is...one must have a fairly new computer with updated capabilities and a decent bandwidth from their internet service provider.

International Women Getting Together for Conversation on Rebuilding the World Economy
(On the Wings of Historic Election in the U.S., Women are Prepared to Help Re-energize the World Economy)

Reykjavík, Iceland; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, November, 2008 On the wings of an historic election in the United States, if an African American President can be elected in the United State then the question should be asked, how different can the world be if international women unite to reinvent the world economy from the ground up? On Saturday, at 12 PM EST on Saturday, November 8, 2008 a group of dynamic international women will get together for a two hour conversation about just that “reinventing the world economy.” Reinvention and revitalization of this economy will be the topic on internet radio show, “Professionals with Impact™” hosted at www.talkshoe.com and facilitated by internet talkcast host, Joanne Quinn-Smith, also known as the “Techno Granny.” This show will be hosted on internet radio originating from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania social media radio site at www.talkshoe.com

Women have been getting together and talking for centuries and thereby solving family and community challenges and now through the use of Web 2.0 technology a group of women are turning their attention to the world. This is happening through a social networking site started by Rúna Magnúsdóttir and originating in Icelandic Cyberspace. The Site is www.Connected-Women.com and the conversation is ongoing in the forum on the site: “Economic Downturn—what have we learned.” Rúna Magnúsdóttir has developed this site to facilitate women doing business with each other internationally. The conversation is active in the forum of www.Connected-Women.com for the world to see. The use of Web 2.0 technology is further being exploited by a 59 year old grandmother from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA who has gained international audience on the internet through four internet Radio shows. Joanne Quinn-Smith, also known as “the Techno Granny” will host a live internet radio show episode that can accommodate 200 callers at www.talkshoe.com. The show, “Professionals with Impact™” can be accessed live through computers and real time chat at www.TalkShoe.com at Noon EST. “Professionals with Impact™” can be accessed live at: Phone Number: 724) 444-7444 using Call ID: 33431 and will accommodate VOIP users such as Skype and Gizmo. The title of this “Professionals with Impact™” Episode is: International Women Building a New World Economy.

The Concept: World development in the 21st Century

“This is a new vision, a new approach to development cooperation together with corporate business. Especially for the business industry we created the website 1We The Chain, the international entrepreneur's platform which makes the difference. It is the first platform in which anyone can be involved in making the world a better place.” Quote from: Fazila Scierrbas International Ambassador & Director of International Contacts for 1We - One World Experience For more information please visit: http://www.1wethechain.com/
1WE is an international broadcast station with passion and the new most exiting national broadcast station. Positive TV-programs convince individuals and corporations to support the surprising development projects of One World Experience. The new style development organization and the combination of the broadcast station and its development organization make 1We - One World Experience a unique organization with international accomplishments. Socially involved entrepreneurship play an important part in this concept. Additional info at: http://www.1we.com/web/show/

Three dynamic women are spearheading the live radio conversation, two of them have met in person and two of them have not. Runa Magnusdoittir and Joanne Quinn-Smith met at the National Association of Women Business Owners Annual Conference in Phoenix, Arizona and subsequently Joanne engaged Runa to speak at the 2nd Annual NAWBO Day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The title of the conference in Pittsburgh was, “Think Ginormous” and as you can see, they have. Fazila Scierrbas and Runa met at an international conference for women. The connection for all three is: www.Connected-Women.com.

All three, Joanne and Runa and Fazila are visionaries who believe in making things happen. Runa began the conversation on the Economic Downturn at: www.connected-women.com and Fazila SCIBERRAS and others joined the conversation. Fazila commented that there were things in the world that needed changing and that getting back to basics was very important and talked about implementing a plan to do that. Joanne wrote back that she would love to see her plan. Fazila put out her plan right on Connected-Women.com and now a radio conversation with several international women is scheduled for Saturday at 12 PM EST thru the wonders of the internet. Any international woman with a passion for reenergizing the world economy by getting back to basics is welcome to attend.

The Concept: World Development in the 21st Century:

This is with new vision, a new approach to development cooperation together with corporate business. Especially for the business industry we created the website 1We The Chain, the international entrepreneur's platform which makes the difference. It is the first platform in which anyone can be involved into making the world a better place. For more information please visit: http://www.1wethechain.com/

Content: Women at their Best Getting Together to Solve Challenges

“The main issues wherever we are in the world and result in six main factors which have to be addressed from the very core in order to sustain projects and build economies. They are: Healthcare, Education, Sanitation, Ecology, Environment and Funding.” Fazila SCIBERRAS

“The slogan of Connected-Women is: ‘Let's get together & make a difference!’” “This is huge and can have a great impact on the world economy. The world is going through turmoil of financial downturns. After years of prosperity we are facing bad "hang-over". “But what is done, is done. We can't change the past, but we can build the future. So, what are we learning from this? What are we going to be doing differently in the future? How do you want to see the future? Your opinion is valuable! It's easy to participate, just sign-in or register.”
Rúna Magnúsdóttir. This is how the conversation started on Connected-Women.com!

“The Presidential Election in the United States has transformed us irrevocably no matter who we voted for. It’s time to now transform the world. Our challenges are not just local, they are global. This is just a good fit from Positively Pittsburgh Live Talkcast and www.PositivelyPittsburghLiveMagazine.com” to work on building on the positive and using global girl power to do it.” Joanne Quinn-Smith

Love Pong.com, Good for Relationships or TMI?

LovePong™ is a free, fun, online game for couples that helps improve communication and enhance your relationship.

Bio
Bill Weil is a Principal at Socius Partners (www.socius-partners.com), specializing in helping emerging technology companies. He has founded 6 companies and has 23 years experience in marketing and software development. Bill helps companies with marketing and business development strategies, and creates websites, email newsletters and web marketing solutions for all industries. LovePong

Ever feel like you and your partner are speaking different languages? With so much divorce, unhappiness, or just lack of passion in long-term relationships, do you feel like you're just "hoping" yours will last?
Relationships are easy at first, but most of us fall into habitual patterns that allow the love and passion to degrade over time.
LovePong™ is a fun way to keep the communication, love and passion flowing.
It takes about two minutes a day.
How It Works
LovePong™ works by giving you and your partner small, easy communication tasks, and provides online coaching on how to communicate most effectively.
Sometimes you'll find great surprises. Other times you'll discover things that might have festered - and get an opportunity to nip it in the bud.
EXAMPLE OF HOW IT WORKS
First, you are given a task, such as:
• List things for which you'd like to be acknowledged, or
• Complete the sentence: "Sometimes I get upset when you..." or
• Make a very specific request about something you would like from your partner
• Etc.
As you fill in blanks that state and further clarify the communication, LovePong™ provides coaching, tips and examples to help you communicate powerfully and responsibly.
When you are done, this information is sent to your partner. We call this a "ping."
Next, your partner receives an email that you have "pinged," and is invited to login.
Your partner reads your communication and then is guided to respond. LovePong™ provides gentle coaching and tips to help your partner respond powerfully and responsibly.
Your partner's response is then sent to you in an email. We call this a "pong."
Is that all? Yes and no. LovePong™ has two objectives:
1. Help bring issues to the surface and encourage the free and ongoing exchange of communication.
2. Provide guidance to make your communication as effective as possible.
Future versions of LovePong™ will maintain and track open items (i.e., items which you or your partner do not feel are fully resolved), so that, at your leisure, the two of you can revisit, and ultimately resolve, them. There will also be ways to win "points" as a couple.

Podcamp Pittsburgh, October 18 and 19, 2008 Interview

Podcamp Pittsburgh coming up on October 18 and 19, you may want to listen to Techno Granny Show with one of the organizers, Melissa Sorg.

Name: Melissa Sorg
Education: BA English Literature; Thiel College
Profession: Paralegal
Original Techno Granny Show, 6-30-2008

How did I get involved with PodCamp Pittsburgh: My husband, Michael
Sorg, does a podcast entitled the Wrestling Mayhem Show on Tuesday
nights at 8:00 p.m. He works as a video editor with Multimedia

Training Systems, and used to work with PodCamp Pittsburgh

host/creator Justin Kownacki. Mike attended the first PodCamp and
wanted to be part of the event planning. We started going to planning
meetings for PodCamp Pittsburgh. I tagged along with him to the
meetings. As I attended more meetings, I began to see the bigger
picture and started offering to help out where I could. I have since
become part of the PodCamp Pittsburgh community.

What do I do in the Social Media arena: I started an advice podcast
in 2006ish entitled the Missfit Advice Hour.

My husband, Mike had Wrestling Mayhem show and wanted to get me involved in my own way.
Our friends had always joked about how good my advice is, so we
started the Missfit Advice Hour. I took e-mail questions and qustions
via AOL Instant Messenger and answered them. When we were getting
ready to move into our new home, the Advice Hour took a back seat to
everything and fizzled away. I occasionally help my husband out with
the Wrestling Mayhem Show podcast/videocast that he does on Tuesday
nights. We (my husband and I) have discussed bringing the Missfit
Advice Hour back using some of the new media sources to assist with
the show.

It is presently in the organizational phase, and we've been
thinking about rolling it out in conjunction with PCPgh 3. I have an
online blog at rebelliousflaw.blogspot.com. I am on Twitter, Facebook
and MySpace. When I'm in an area where I have limited connectivity, I
find myself slightly freaking out because I'm unconnected!

PodCamp highlights:
- PodCamp is for people of all technological levels, from beginners to
intermediate to expert.
- People can find out more information at http://www.podcamppittsburgh.com
- Registration is open, and can be done through
http://www.podcamppittsburgh.com
- PodCamp will address how new media is useful to both individuals and
companies.
- PodCamp will address various facets of new media, including
blogging, vlogging, messaging, etc.

TEchno Granny Show, Free Virus Ware and Spyware by Sue Tresatti, Taylored Solutions

I would like to start out by stating no antivirus program is 100 accurate so doing regular backups are critical.

Because of Trojan Horses you need to run a scan at a minimum once a week but ideally daily.

In the past more viruses were coming through email but ISP’s (internet service providers) have done a better job of combating those so more are coming through web pages. This is based on my customers that I have had to fix in the past years.

What are the Top 10 antivirus programs http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ – you can Google this. Make sure there are not ad’s for the antivirus on the site because they might have paid for that spot. You may see different rankings but most have the same ones just in different orders.

The top 3 antivirus software’s are probably names most people have never heard (bitdefender, kasparsky, Nod32) AVG is 4th.

Understanding viruses - http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/understanding-viruses.html

Other ways to deter viruses

1. ensure your operating system is up to date with essential security patches

2. install a firewall (windows has a firewall and also routers come with a firewall)

3. Spam software (avoid getting viruses in your inbox)

What to look for in antivirus software (user-friendly and effectiveness)

Which version had 1.5 million downloads last week and over 131 million downloads to date – AVG Free Edition http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=10891365

Popup that tell you that you have a virus more times then not add a virus when you select it. Be careful how you answer those questions. What most people don’t know is that a virus needs human action to start them. So your response is what sets off viruses.

Worms do not need someone to start them. They can allow malicious users to tunnel into your system to take control.

www.download.com to get free antivirus software and spyware software. No one should have the excuse they can’t afford antivirus because there are free versions. This free versions are usually for home users. Businesses have to pay.

Biggest misconception is that because it comes with the computer or it is well known it is good. Like other consumer products you are paying for the name. They are more expensive and although they are on the top 10 list they slow down computers and cost sometimes twice as much as some of the better ones.

If you currently have an antivirus program you may want to see how well it is working. You can run a free scan from www.trendmicro.com to see if it picks up any ones your antivirus missed. Trend Micro in previous years has been the #1 but recently it has moved down the list but still is in the top 5 usually.

Virtual PBX—Ring Central.com

You’ll have all the power and functionality of a Fortune 500 phone system but with no hardware to buy and maintain. You’ll connect remote teams and employees as if they were in the same room, and allow them all access to your telephone and fax features, no matter where they are. RingCentral’s easy-to-use online tools make configuring and managing your system a snap.

Even if your company has only one employee, you can also take advantage of multiple extensions. You can create virtual departments, make announcements and route calls from any extension to any number—your home, office, cell, etc.

Your callers will be presented state of the art messaging and options at each step they make through your system. Each system user will have unmatched functionality and flexibility to aid him/her in the efficient performance of his/her unique job responsibilities.

Answering the call
The auto-attendant will answer the caller with a professional recording (default or record your own). Callers could hear options such as “Press 1 for service, press 2 for sales consultants, press 3 for account information…” or “Press 1 for Bill Jones, press 2 for Elizabeth Harley…” or “If you know the number of the party…”

Incoming faxes
Incoming faxes are automatically detected and accepted. There is never a busy signal. Faxes are delivered to your email inbox or online account, per your setup preference.

Extensions
When the caller enters an extension number, the call will go to those telephone numbers you select for that extension: your or your employee’s home, cell or office phones; a sequence of telephone numbers; or several telephone numbers at once. These phones can be anywhere, yet they will all appear as if they are all in offices in the same building. You can even set up extensions to deliver company announcements or Fax on Demand.

Extension owner abilities
The extension owner will be able to identify callers through call screening technology and answer, or the caller will be routed to other numbers or a message mailbox. Each extension owner can personalize his/her extension with messaging and answering options for their unique work and schedule. Extension owners will have the ability to listen to messages in their own way: from computer, email or from any telephone.

Different options for different times and days
You'll be able to create different options for regular business hours, after-hours, holidays and vacations, for both the incoming main line and for each extension independently.

Tracking the calls and faxes
A record of all incoming and outgoing calls and messages will kept in your call log.

Is Cuil Really Cool?

So I named this talkcast Episode 66—“Cuil, a better search engine or an old-fashioned pen!” That was before I found out that Cuil was pronounced Cool and was nothing like Benjamin Franklin’s quill that he used to write, I guess more than Ben Franklin’s quill pen is archaic, I think Techno Granny may be too because in this case I just don’t see the sense of one more search engine.

Cuil (pronounced "cool") is a search engine that organizes web pages by content and displays a paragraph with thumbnail pictures for many results. It claims to have a larger index than any other search engine, with about 120 billion web pages. It went live on July 28, 2008.

Cuil's privacy policy states that it does not store records of users’ search activity or IP addresses.
Cuil is managed and developed largely by former employees of Google: Anna Patterson, Russell Power and Louis Monier. The CEO and co-founder, Tom Costello, has worked for IBM and others. The company raised $33 million from venture capital firms including to start the business.
Paraphrased from Wikipedia

Cuil or "Cool" is not Cool as far as Techno Granny is concerned. It claims to use different rules that are more relevant to real search and not just popularity but that “sexy” Russian Lady in a babushka dancing to Techno Music is still beating me out with her videos. If it were not for being listed on Zimbio and Zencast, I would not even have come up in my first search of even the Techno Granny Show. My first search did not even pick up TalkShoe, come on or Montana?!? So the Techno Granny thing is not just sour grapes.

Videos outstrip podcasts anyday in search ranking, so how is Cuil different? Let’s see, the Russian sexy senior citizen has one video that has been downloaded 100,000 times and I have 63 podcasts. What’s that tell you about the power of video and Cuil, very cooly claims that their search goes by different rules. Don’t think so!

Positively Pittsburgh Live, very concise look at what you are looking at but Hacking Live also comes up with Positivley Pittsburgh Live.
TalkShoe, on the other hand had several shoe stores in my first search and nothing about an audio host that has millions of users.

Carl Weisbrad of WDSL Library was on the line so I checked him out, nothing and he’s also a pretty prolific guy with shows on two networks, Talk Shoe and Blogtalk Radio and he is also a master with RSS feeds. What are the new cool rules for Cuil?

From the Cuil website: “Rather than rely on superficial popularity metrics, Cuil searches for and ranks pages based on their content and relevance. When we find a page with your keywords, we stay on that page and analyze the rest of its content, its concepts, their inter-relationships and the page’s coherency.” Ah well, they did only just go live on July 28 and I am wrtiting this on August 4 so Techno Granny may soon eat her words.

But what did they spend 33 million dollars on. I did notice that by the end of the show the Search results looked a little better for Talk Shoe. Could they have used part of that money for Google Alerts Pro and “heard” me talking about them and gotten it together or am I just in the twi-light zone. The second on air search that I did on Talk Shoe, still had some shoe stores but had 5 references out of three columns about the REAL Shoe.

From the Cuil website: “Then we offer you helpful choices and suggestions until you find the page you want and that you know is out there. We believe that analyzing the Web rather than our users is a more useful approach, so we don’t collect data about you and your habits, lest we are tempted to peek.” Oh is that what they were doing, excuse me their internet crystal ball told them that a 58 year old granny didn’t want to buy shoes but wanted to check out a Podcasting site called Talk Shoe. Well, that’s what they would have one believe.

From the Cuil website: “Cuil is an old Irish word for knowledge. For knowledge, ask Cuil.” Think they spent some of that 33 mil on a spiffy by-line from a Madison Avenue Ad Agency. No, they are nothing like Google, Ask or Yahoo!

Well you asked for it, before I did this show listeners were e-mailing me and calling me about how Cool it would be for Techno Granny to scoop Cuil, so I did and I may “hide” that podcast after a while but in the meantime, what in the world do Eco Shoes (walking Shoes), Wooden Shoe Books and Records, Ontario Shoe Travelers Association and a Shoe made of Garbage, Niki Trash Talk have to do with our beloved TalkShoe ?

By the way a recent article in PC Magazine agreed with me that many searches on rather common items such as States either yielded nothing or were irrelevant. Guess that’s what happens when you go to a party and the fun people haven’t arrived yet. If you leave early because no one is there, you could miss all the fun! So Techno Granny is going to go back and check it out after the party gets going a little better.

You can listen to the actual talkcast on this topic at:

Would you lend your child money but not your time?

This was sent to me in an e-mail by one of my listeners Carol Carmichael, who owns Carol's Restaurant and Hometown Sports Deli in the Historic West End of PIttsburgh. I thought, as a grandmother that it was important enough a parable to share.

For those of us with kids, something to ponder..........

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year
old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'
DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.
SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'
DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the
man said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an
hour?'
DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you
can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then
you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why
you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish
frivolities.' The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's
questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After
about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and
he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of
the little boy's room and opened the door. 'Are you asleep, son?' He
asked. 'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy. 'I've been thinking,
maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man 'It's been a long day
and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for .'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' He
yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up
bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry
again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up
at his father. 'Why do you want more money if you already have some?'
the father grumbled. Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the
little boy replied. 'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your
time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with
you.'

The father was crushed.. He put his arms around his little son, and he
begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you
working so hard in life.. We should not let time s lip through our
fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to
us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of
your time with someone you love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily
replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave
behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
